Hafler didn't go bankrupt they just don't make stuff for the consumer market anymore, focusing mostly on pro-audio. Don't forget "the Hafler circuit" a precursor to Dolby Pro-Logic which involved wiring a pair of speakers in series using only the positive leads of both channels. The man took the Williamson amplifier design and improved it using ultra-linear design which is why ultra-linear pentode designs are popular today. Dynaco is probably the reason hobbyist HiFi took off in the first place. Hafler started his own company in 1977 making audio amps prior to that he was half of a duo that created Dynaco.and if you don't know Dynaco, well the Hafler name makes no sense. ![]() ![]() Like was mentioned a 60hz hum usually indicates the electrolytics went south in the power supply and no longer filter out the ripple.
